A doctor from Connecticut, an American citizen born in the United States, has claimed the Department of Homeland Security ( DHS) sent her an email asking her to “leave the country immediately”.
” The communication said,’ It’s time for you to leave the United States.’ The speech seemed very threatening to anybody it may actually use to”, Lisa Anderson, a doctor from Cromwell, Connecticut, told NBC Connecticut on Wednesday.
Anderson, 58, was born in Pennsylvania. The message to her comes days after another US citizen, immigration lawyer Nicole Micheroni from Boston, Massachusetts, received the same information from DHS.
Micheroni said though she was told to leave the land within seven times, federal officials were but to follow up.
Pointing to the Boston season, Anderson stated she does no “have anything to do with immigration”. The doctor, who has been carrying her US card at all times since receiving the internet, is seeking an immigration lawyer.
” It does concern me there’re a lot more people out there like me who perhaps likewise thought this was email, who probably didn’t know,’ I have a issue,'” she remarked.
Department of Homeland Security answer
A top DHS national told NBC News the division has been sending notices to people who do not have “lawful position to continue to live in America”.
” If a non-personal internet — such as an American citizen call — was provided by the mysterious, notices may have been sent to unexpected consumers. CBP ( Customs and Border Protection ) is monitoring connections and will address any issues on a case-by-case basis”, the national said.
He asserted that for such people, being in the United States is a “privilege and certainly a right”.
