50% of students whose US visas have been revoked by Trump admin are Indians: Study
According to a research, the majority of the individuals who lost their visas as a result of Trump’s assault are Indians.

According to a study released by the American Immigration Lawyers Association, 50 % of the reported cases of US individuals whose permits were revoked are Indian. The relationship found that after looking at 327 reports of immigration revocations by the Donald Trump administration, China came in second place with 14 % of Chinese students receiving visa expulsions.
According to the study, 50 % of visa revocations were caused by those who were receiving Optional Practical Training ( OPT ), which means they had obtained a degree and worked in the United States.
The Trump administration has repeatedly stated that the most likely explanation for the immigration crackdowns is involvement in political turmoil, but the record claimed that only two pupils have ever reported having ever participated in political protests. The lawyers ‘ association stated that 33 % of their cases had been dismissed, were never charged, or were never prosecuted, while 86 % reported some level of interaction with the police. Two of the students who reported having a conversation with the officers are victims of domestic crime. Some of the others were ticketed for speeding and for parking-related offenses.
According to the association, “it is obvious that more arbitrary visa revocations and SEVIS ( Student and Exchange Visitor Information System ) record terminations are necessary,” according to these reports. Given the sheer number of those impacted, there should be a way for students to file an appeal for SEVIS pregnancies that are misleading without experiencing a difference in their work or requiring the school to get involved.
According to a verified cause, ICE has terminated 4, 736 SEVIS information since January 20, 2025, with the majority being F-1 position.
Only 14 % of students who were on OPT reported receiving notice from ICE. They were informed by email that their OPT had been terminated. About 7 % of respondents said they had received no notice from ICE or their schools.
