The Robert C. Weaver Federal Building, the offices of HUD, was added to a list of national components designated for “accelerated disposal” on Thursday by the General Services Administration.

Secretary Scott Turner stated in a statement that” HUD’s emphasis is on creating a workplace that reflects the values of performance, accountability, and purpose.” As we work with our partners at GSA to deliver benefits for the American citizens, we’re committed to rightsizing government activities and making sure our infrastructure support a lifestyle of maximum performance and excellent service.

The tower has 700, 000 flat feet and is 10 surfaces tall, above theL’Enfant Plaza Metro station, two blocks away from the National Mall. According to the GSA, it still has 50 % capacity even now that President Donald Trump’s executive order requires that federal employees resign from office.

The Trump administration wants to lower the burden on taxpayers by covering the costs of maintaining big, expensive governmental buildings. Weaver’s book is$ 56 million, and his maintenance and modernization needs are$ 500 million.

The national tower, nevertheless, has landmark status and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Weaver cannot be sold unless it can be certain that its traditional morality will be upheld. Therefore, it would be impossible to destroy the tower. &nbsp,

Weaver was added as a “non-core” property last month by the Trump administration, but the list was later terminated because it needed more time to “understand the details of the property listed.”

Trump announced on Tuesday that he will give more flexibility in where national firms decide to relocate, despite Washington still being the best place to buy a house. His announcement removed previous presidents ‘ executive orders that mandated the government to find ancient and traditional areas.
