DeepSeek is accused of a number of provocative, improper, and unethical practices in a bipartisan report released by the US Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Additionally, NVIDIA, a tech giant, is also attracting the ire of US federal authorities because it provided DeepSeek with the cards needed to build the AI models.

    DeepSeek investigation

In April 2025, the document, titled” DeepSeek Unmasked: Exposing the CCP’s Latest Tool for Spying, Stealing, and Subverting U.S. Export Control Restrictions,” was released. It makes a number of complaints against DeepSeek, including:

    • More than 85 % of actions that are related to democracy, Taiwan, Hong Kong, or human rights are constantly suppressed.
    • having a strong connection to the CCP through a business that is owned and run by it.
    • Now transferring information to the CCP from American consumers.
    • maintaining an equipment that is used by Chinese businesses to conduct data planting, size surveillance, and censorship.

The People’s Liberation Army ( PLA ), the military branch of the CCP, is linked to dozens of DeepSeek employees and researchers in addition to the allegations cited in the report.

According to Chairman John Moolenaar (R-MI ),” This statement makes it clear that DeepSeek isn’t just another AI application; it’s a tool in the Chinese Communist Party’s army, designed to detective on Americans, steal our systems, and disrupt U.S. law.”

Due to concerns about possible security, DeepSeek has already been banned in some nations, including Taiwan, Australia, India, Italy, South Korea, and India. The US Congress, NASA, and other government organizations in Texas have all banned its use, as have the US Congress and NASA.

    exploring the function of NVIDIA

The technology giant NVIDIA likewise faces charges, including:” NVIDIA is not the only business mentioned in the report; it was also:

    • To circumvent export laws, DeepSeek may have purchased more than 60, 000 chips to further its app growth.
    • developing a customized microprocessor as a remedial measure for a regulatory flaw.

According to The New York Times, NVIDIA official John Rizzo previously stated in component,” We insist that our partners agree with all relevant laws, and we will act accordingly if we receive any information the contrary.”

NVIDIA’s speech, however, isn’t enough for the legislative commission, which is accusing nations like Singapore and Malaysia of purchasing cards and improperly exporting them to China. The committee is therefore requesting certain information from NVIDIA regarding each user account from at least 11 Asian nations. Within two weeks, the committee anticipates NVIDIA’s reply.

    Waiting for a solution

In February 2025, the US Select Committee on the CCP began looking into DeepSeek and its rapid technological advancement. Although their most recent statement makes some really serious complaints against both DeepSeek and NVIDIA, it’s important to keep in mind that all parties are innocent until proven guilty.
