A stray shot struck a 21-year-old Indian pupil as she waited at a bus stop on her way to work, and Harsimrat Randhawa was shot in Hamilton, Ontario.
When the shooting happened on Wednesday evening ( local time ), Randhawa, a student at Mohawk College, was a defenseless bystander. After being rushed to the hospital, she died from a gunshot wound to the neck.
According to The Spec, Randhawa was enrolled in Mohawk College’s occupational therapy assistant/physiotherapy associate system.
We are deeply saddened to learn of the demise of Harsimrat Randhawa, said Mohawk College spokesman Sean Coffey in a statement.
Near Upper James Street and South Bend Road, the shooting took place about 7:30 p.m. A customer in a dark Mercedes SUV reportedly fired at the bright sedan’s passengers. Both cars fled the scene in various directions following the gunshots. A stray shot struck Randhawa while he was waiting for the bus.
Police in Hamilton confirmed that Randhawa was an honest victim of the gunshots and was not involved in the encounter. The rear window of a local residence on Allenby Avenue, where people were watching tv, was also destroyed by the same pictures. No one was hurt inside the house, though.
The tragic passing of American student Harsimrat Randhawa in Hamilton, Ontario, was the courthouse general of India in Toronto’s article. According to local authorities, she was an innocent victim who was fatally struck by a stray bullet in a shooting collision involving two cars. A crime research is raging right now. We are in close communication with her home, and we are offering any help that is needed. In this difficult moment, our thoughts and prayers are with the grieving family.
Mohawk College added that it was saddened by the fact that “her family and friends are in her feelings at this difficult day.” We as Mohawk College members are aware of the impact that many people are having, and we will do everything we can to help Harsimrat’s friends, loved ones, and the wider school area.
