Renaud Camus, a European writer and philosopher known for his anti-immigration opinions, has been barred from entering the UK, British newspaper The Telegraph reported, noting that no formal explanation was provided for the restrictions.
Camus had planned to visit the English later this month for a talking relationship. He also said he was scheduled to participate in a potential discussion at the Oxford Union.
The artist is planning to charm the restrictions with support from the Free Speech Union, an company led by Lord Young, a Liberal gaze in the House of Lords.
Lord Young said, “We’ve reached up to him to discover if he’d like any help in appealing this decision, and he said yes. So I anticipate that we are going to be getting an emigration attorney on the situation. ”
He also criticised the timing of the decision, calling it “tin-eared ” given that Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer is trying to build ties with Donald Trump, whose administration raised concerns about freedom of expression in the UK.
Who is Renaud Camus?
Camus is a philosopher commonly known for his Excellent Replacement theory. The concept claims that Europe’s indigenous groups are being consciously replaced by workers.
Why was he banned?
While the Home Office has never detailed the causes, it said Camus’s appearance “was not considered to be beneficial to the common good. ”
The restrictions comes amid a heated argument over free speech in the UK, especially concerning immigration. Some believe that misconceptions surrounding immigration played a part in fuelling the 2024 summer protests that followed the It deaths.
