Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote a concept of unity and trust on the celebration of Easter Sunday, as he accused Russian troops of breaching a momentary peace, previously declared by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“Evil may have its hour, but God will have His day, ” Zelenskyy posted on X. In the article, he invoked the anguish and resurrection of Christ to encourage hope for peace and success. “May evil’s hours close. Perhaps the day of life arrive. The day of harmony. The day of Ukraine. The day that lasts for ages, ” he wrote.
“Christ is Risen! He is Risen Really! ”, he more wrote.
His concept came as both flanks accused each other of violating the 30-hour peace announced by Moscow from Saturday, 6:00 am to Sunday evening. Despite the charter, Zelenskyy said Russian forces continued shelling and launched attack along the front.
In a split article, Zelenskyy wrote that Ukraine recorded at least 387 pounding situations and 19 attack from Saturday night until nightfall. On Easter day, another 59 shooting situations and five Soviet assaults were logged across the Donetsk, Starobilsk, and Zaporizhzhia areas. Lots of FPV helicopter attacks were also reported.
“ In some places, Russia is also continuing isolated efforts to improve and impose costs on Ukraine, ” Zelenskyy wrote on Sunday, citing a front statement from Commander-in-Chief Syrskyi.
Zelenskyy reiterated that Ukraine had proposed a 30-day peace improvement, which “remains on the table. ” He stressed that Kyiv had continue to act based on “the real position on the ground. ” The Ukrainian President even warned against trusting Moscow ’s peace promises, noting Russia’s previous refusal of Kyiv’s sell for a full, unequivocal peace.
Putin had attended an Easter services in Moscow only days after announcing the peace. However, there were no information from the Kremlin on how it would be enforced or monitored, and Russian authorities in held Kherson accused Ukraine of violating the peace.
Soldiers and civilians on both sides remained wary. AFP quoted Ukrainian frontline troops who doubted the honesty of Moscow ’s peace, while some Russian citizens felt there was no need for caution.
Despite the conflicts, Easter Sunday saw a unique change of prisoners of war. As per AFP, 246 men were swapped on each part in a UAE-mediated package, bringing the total number of returned Ukrainian POWs to 4,552.
In his address, Zelenskyy underlined Ukraine’s ongoing battle for peace and freedom, saying, “We are united in this … We fight for Ukraine up. And we pray for Ukraine up. ”
