During a recent appearance on the podcast “ Talk Easy with Sam Fragoso, ” Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass. ) found herself squirming under the mass of her own thoughts as she tried — and failed — to defend earlier comment about Joe Biden’s mental clarity. What unfolded was a meandering, terribly uncomfortable exchange that exposed merely how unworkable the party collection has become. Even the most devoted Democrats are struggling to maintain the idea that Biden is still mentally strong, and Warren’s stammering, half-hearted defence was little short of degrading.

Fragoso began by zeroing in on Warren’s repeated protection of Biden’s emotional health during his administration.
“Do you regret saying that President Biden had a mental clarity, he had a brightness to him? You said that up until July of last year, ” he asked.
Warren, clearly cautious, responded, “ I said what I believed to be true. ”
But Fragoso pressed more, not letting her get ahead with a nebulous non-answer: “And he, you think he was as strong as you? ”
That’s when the tires started to come off. There was a long wait, followed by a passive, frightened laugh from Warren. She suddenly replied, “Um, I said I had not seen drop. ” After another pause, she added, “And I had n’t at that point. ”
Fragoso was n’t buying it. He followed up: “You did not see any collapse from 2024 Joe Biden to 2021 Joe Biden? ”
Warren stuck to her guns — little. “Not when I said that. You know, the, uh, the — the thing is he… Appearance, he was strong, he was on his legs. I saw him [at ] live event[s], I had meetings with him a couple of times. ”
But “on his feet ” clearly was n’t the answer Fragoso was looking for or one that inspired confidence, and he called her out on it.

“Senator, ‘on his feet’ is not praise, ” he said. “‘ He you speak in phrases’ is never praise. ”
Warren, sounding extremely deflated, conceded: “All correctly. Fair much. Fair much. ”
