
A government agency tasked with investigating poor work techniques within the federal government dismissed about 2,000 wrongful termination problems filed by fired temporary employees.
The Office of Special Counsel, led by President Donald Trump’s business agent, Jamieson Greer, stated that the problems lacked merit, according to Forbes. Trump fired the preceding OSC head, Hampton Dellinger, an appointment of former President Joe Biden, in February. Dellinger challenged his fire but afterward dropped his situation.
The 2,000 fired leave people are among tens of thousands of state workers terminated by the Trump presidency, prompting wrongful termination lawsuits.
“This is a devastating setback to the civil service and to the rule that federal should serve the public, not political passions, ” Rob Shriver, managing director of Democracy Forward’s Civil Service Strong action, said in a statement.
Otherwise, the fired temporary employees could take their concerns to the Merit Systems Protection Board, a federal organization that protects against “partisan social and other prohibited staff practices. ”
