A fast-moving fire in Barnegat Township, Ocean County, New Jersey, has prompted required evacuations for people in many places. According to the New Jersey Forest Fire Service, the blaze has previously burned about 1,200 acres and remains totally uncontained.
Emergency are currently afoot along Wells Mills Road, between Bryant Road and the Garden State Parkway. CBS media reported that officials have proved sixteen institutions are under risk and have been evacuated as a protection. Aerial footage from the neighborhood shows sections of the Greenwood Forest Wildlife Management Area engulfed in flames, with thick smoke visible from miles away.
The flames has also caused major traffic disruption. The Garden State Parkway has been shut in both directions near Enter 69. Many local roads have also been closed, including Rt. 532 ( Wells Mills Road ) from Route 72 to the Parkway, Bryant Road between Rt. 532 and Rt. 539, and Jones Road between Rt. 532 and Bryant Road.
Rescue crews have deployed both a plane and a fixed-wing plane to lose water on the fire in an effort to slow its spread. No accidents have been reported so far.
Officials have urged the government to stay away from the place and completely advised against flying drones in the fire area, which may interfere with disaster aircraft. The cause of the fire is still under inspection.
