President Donald Trump sought to clear up his latest comments Tuesday regarding Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, telling reporters at the White House that he has “no goal ” of firing him.

Earlier this month, Powell suggested in a talk before the Economic Club of Chicago that the leader ’s tax plan will direct the Fed to keep off on any major change to interest charges.

Trump, in change, ratcheted up his own people attacks on “Too Late” Powell, suggesting regularly on Truth Social that he was considering removing the president from his post before the finish of his name in 2026.

The president, while fielding a problem in the Oval Office Tuesday night during a swearing-in service for Securities and Exchange Commission chair Paul Atkins, claimed to be making significant progress in lowering rates for American families, adding that the “Fed may lower the rate ” to help lower borrowing costs.

“We think that it ’s a perfect time to lower the rate, and would like to see our chairman be early or on time, as opposed to late, ” he continued before clarifying he has “no intention of firing ” Powell.

“None either. Always did. The media runs ahead with things, ” Trump continued. “No, I have no intent of firing him. I would like to see him be a little more effective in terms of his plan to lower interest rates. It’s the perfect time to lower interest rates. ”

“If he does n’t, is it the end? No, it ’s certainly, but it would be great schedule —  it could have taken place before, but not, I have no intention of firing him, ” the president concluded.
