President Donald Trump said he and second lady Melania Trump may attend the funeral of Pope Francis, embarking on the first foreign trip of his next word to honor the late religious leader.
“Melania and I will be going to the death of Pope Francis, in Rome. We look forward to being that! ” Trump said Monday in a blog to his Truth Social system.
Francis died at period 88 on Monday in Rome. He had been hospitalized in mid-February with asthma, which progressed to lethal asthma, before leaving the hospital in March. The late pope had a record of health problems, including breathing difficulties.
Trump praised Francis as a “good man” who “loved the earth ” after his death.
A moment before his death, Francis met with U. S. Vice President JD Vance, a subsequent Catholic change, in a meeting the Vatican had described as “cordial. ” Earlier this year, Francis denounced Trump’s strategies to ramp up persecution of unauthorized migrants, saying it would be a “disgrace. ” Those remarks led Vance to fight with Francis on social press, with the U. S. sin president seeking to proclaim his Christian values in defence of Trump’s plans.
A reading from the evil leader ’s company after the conference with Francis made no mention of immigration things but in a speech on Sunday the late bishop had urged political leaders to support vulnerable and marginalized people.
The religious head of the world’s 1. 4 billion Christians since March 2013, Francis hailed from Argentina, making him the first pontiff from the Americas, as well as the first Jesuit to hold that position. He became pope after the capitulation of Benedict XVI.
