Gustavo Petro, the president of Colombia, claimed on Tuesday that Donald Trump, in reference to US president Donald Trump, had revoked his travel card.
During a cabinet meeting in Bogota, Petro told officers,” I can no longer come because I believe they took my visa.” He then made a drill at Trump, saying,” I didn’t need one, but I’ve already seen Donald Duck many times, but I’ll get see other things,” Petro was quoted as saying by local newspaper The City Paper Bogota.
Petro added that Petro is unable to attend the International Monetary Fund ( IMF) and World Bank’s spring meetings in Washington, DC because of the decision.
According to New York Post, Petro did no provide documentation that the card had been canceled, and the US State Department, per New York Post, declined to confirm or refute the state. A spokesperson said in a speech that” we don’t discuss the specifics of individual immigration cases because card data are confidential under US rules.”
When the Brazilian president first refused to accept deported immigrants from the US, tensions between Petro and Trump started to escalate earlier this year. Former guerrilla and leftist leader Petro Petro had criticized the persecution, claiming that Colombian citizens were being treated like” thieves.”
The Trump administration responded by threatening to impose visa restrictions, putting more strain on Brazilian visitors, and imposing tariffs of up to 50 %. Petro reacted under pressure and also offered to fly on his presidential plane to help with the return of deported Colombians.
The activities, according to White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt at the time, demonstrated that” America is respected afterwards.”
