    Trump Slams Zelensky Again

After Zelensky rejected a proposal that was supported by the United States that would have acknowledged Russian power over Crimea as part of a possible peace deal, President Donald Trump harshly criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Wednesday.

Zelensky reiterated that Ukraine had no grant Russia’s request to ratify its control of Crimea in the course of ongoing efforts to broker a peace deal between Ukraine and Russia. It’s a steadfast position, to be sure, but not sudden given the circumstances.

In a media conference, Zelensky stated that “Ukraine does not officially recognize the occupation of Crimea.” There is nothing to discuss below. This is against our founding principles.

Trump, but, saw things separately and wrote in a post on Truth Social that his speech was “very detrimental to the Peace Negotiations with Russia in that Crimea was lost ages ago under the supervision of President Barack Hussein Obama, and is not even a point of discussion.”

No one is asking Zelenskyy to grant the country to Russia, but Trump continued,” If he wants Crimea, why didn’t they fight for it eleven years back when it was handed over to Russia without a shot being fired”; however, no one is asking him to.

Prior to” the Obama handover,” the area also houses significant Russian submarine bases. It’s the inflammatory remarks made by Zelenskyy that make this War but difficult to negotiate. He doesn’t have anything to boast around! Ukraine’s situation is dire; he has two options: Peace and fighting for another three times before losing the entire nation. I have nothing to do with Russia, but much of my desire is to save on average five thousand Russian and Ukrainian troops who pass away without cause every year. Anyone wants that, and Zelenskyy’s assertion today will only serve to enhance the “killing field”! We are very close to making a deal, but the man who has” no cards to play” should now, finally, get it done. I look forward to helping Russia and Ukraine escape this complete and total MESS, which, if I were leader, would have never begun!

The President’s comment highlight the fragile balance required for international politics. Zelensky may be acting in the interests of his country, but Trump sees his position as a major impediment to finding a solution as quickly as possible.

More information is available from The Wall Street Journal:

Zelensky’s departure upends Trump’s most recent attempt to end the conflict in Ukraine, which is now in its fourth year, and raises new questions about the outlook of the partnership between Kyiv and Washington, which Trump has made contingent on a fast settlement.

Russian officials last year received a number of tips for ending the war, including the Crimea request. American officials expected an answer on Wednesday at a summit in London, where Ukrainian, U.S., and Western leaders may meet.

Zelensky urged Russia to agree to a cease-fire before further discussions to demonstrate” significant steps, and no childishness.” He claimed that Russian officials in London who met with U.S. and European officials may be asked to discuss a partial or complete cease-fire, which Ukraine agreed to next month but Moscow rejected.

According to a recent poll, half of Ukraine is still firmly opposed to giving up any land, up from 8 % in 2022 to 39 % now, despite the country’s recent increase in population to 8 % in 2022. The idea of officially ceding Crimea remains socially unassailable in Ukraine, even among those who are open to compromise. &nbsp,

The concept has been criticized by authorities as a dangerous precedent and a violation of international law. Tamila Tasheva, a senator for the Crimean Tatar, warned that a similar action would justify aggression and foster future conflicts. In addition, despite reports of fruitful discussions with middlemen like special minister Steve Witkoff, suspicion persisted over whether Vladimir Putin is truly interested in peace.
