Michele Fiore, a dominant Nevada Republican who was found guilty of federal wire fraud, has received a full pardon from US president Donald Trump. After being found guilty in October 2024 of misusing money intended to pay a fallen police agent, Fiore was awaiting punishment. According to the prosecution, she diverted more than$ 70,000 from her daughter’s wedding and cosmetic surgery to fund personal expenses.
Past Las Vegas city councilwoman and state lawmaker Fiore has long been a vocal supporter of Trump. In 2022, she unsuccessfully ran for express manager, and she was afterwards appointed to Nye County, Nevada, to serve as a prosecutor. Despite her faith, she was elected last year to finish the judge’s word after his death, but she was later suspended without compensation as a result of her legal issues.
Fiore thanked Trump for the reprimand in a Facebook post on Thursday, making the claim that she had been the goal of a decade-long plan from the US government and a few press outlets. According to Associated Press, the White House granted the forgive but provided no justification for it.
Progressives in Nevada have criticized the action. It was a” slap in the face” to law enforcement, according to Hilary Barrett, senior director of the state’s Democratic Party, accusing Trump of disobeying the gravity of the murder.
Although the Nevada Commission on Judicial Discipline has yet to provide a proper update on her expulsion position, Fiore intends to return to the chair the following week.
FBI officials searched Fiore’s Las Vegas home in 2021, which caused her constitutional issues to start. Six works of wire fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud were included in her faith. Before Trump’s forgive overturned the conviction, she faced years in prison.
