As I write outside, the decades-old issue of Mexico contaminating the American beaches with its natural sewage has gotten worse as a result of Tijuana, Mexico’s rapid population growth. However, it’s then having an impact on America’s national security concerns, and the s*** has just started to get real.  ,

Since before then-Imperial Beach Mayor Brian Bilbray hopped aboard a shovel and built a mound to prevent the valley from flowing into an socially sensitive region, the Mexican wastewater problem has been a five-alarm problem. When the police arrived to stop him and the outcry surrounding it, he promised to return with a force to finish the job, but it’s 40 years after and the issue persists.  ,
Rick writes over here that Lee Zeldin, the EPA administrator, is making up excuses from the Mexican government, despite receiving$ 650 million to deal with this problem.
There is no way for us to approach the Californians and demand that they show more compassion and patience as we endure the subsequent 10 to 20 or 30 decades of being stuck in 12 feet of stagnant water, he said. We are thus all insufficiently patient.
Some people had the notion that the Hispanic problem would escalate to the point where American national security would be in jeopardized, but here we are.  ,

The SEAL Team commanders were instructed to move their water training away from Coronado during high contamination periods by an inspector general’s report entitled” Naval Special Warfare Command Should Relocate, Reschedule, or Cancel Navy Sea, Air, and Land ( SEAL ) Candidate Water Training When Water Bacteria Levels Exceed State Safety Standards.”

The IG’s record, which was made public in February, revealed that lots of Navy SEAL candidates had to endure contaminated water while undergoing forced training in local Cortes.  ,
If, as all military personnel know, s*** runs downward, the Navy officers bear the brunt  of the blame for this global waste problem.  ,
What SEALs do is get “wet and shallow.” Nearly all coaching is done on the beach or in the water. Additionally, the liquid is frequently sick- and obscene.
Basic Underwater and Basic Demolition training is known as BUDS ( Busel Team Training ). Regular ocean swims, sea passage with inflatable boats, dive swimming, long distance dives, and “hydrographic surveys” are the subjects of the training.
       Â
According to the Inspector General’s report,” Naval Special Warfare ( NSW) will have a problem relocating or canceling 75 % of their liquid training routines. Operators in NSW would in theory need systems or protocols that may allow them to train and operate while managing unavoidable risk.
Where are they supposed to go if the water is so ugly that it makes them ill for the rest of the teaching if the training is only five months away from San Clemente Island?  ,

The contamination has the potential to turn into a very legal s***show. According to a senior who spoke to Fox Digital, the wastewater contaminants could lead to “another Camp Lejeune” event, referring to the contaminated drinking water that has been consumed for years at the North Carolina Marine Corps center and the billions that Marines have been paid out for the sickening waters.  ,
However, the risk is not just the BUDS training.  ,
” We have Coast Guard, Marines, Customs and Border Control, Customs and Border Control, and EOD, all of which are components of various law enforcement and military services.” They are all out on this water, and some are out on them every day, according to retired Navy SEAL Captain Dan Steward, who spoke to 10 News in San Diego.  ,
The” Nutty Chunk Sewage” Issue in Mexico is an Environmental Disaster for the United States.
You’re asking a lot of those people, so to say,” Well, that’s just the sewage problem, they’ll figure it out,” he said,” You need to be more proactive, because these are the people who are putting their lives on the line.” Not just during the war, but every day.
The San Diego congressional delegation issued a warning in 2024 about the complaints coming from Navy personnel:” We have a real crisis on our hands.”
Rep. Scott Peters said,” We send them out into contaminated water.” The leadership has been reluctant to comment on the water, but any SEAL you talk to who has trained there will tell you tales of people swimming up on human feces.

You want your Navy SEALs to take risks and be exposed to a range of conditions, but I believe this issue needs to be resolved. A formidable armada includes Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and the significant presence the Navy has in San Diego, including subs, surface ships, ship repair, SEALS, and of course, the Marines.  ,
A problem that has ruined vacations, destroyed San Diego’s South Bay’s tourism, and is a rolling punchline has officially taken on an additional level of seriousness that no one can ignore.  ,
