Tokyo: The latest in a line of abuse cases that have irritated citizens, two US marines in Japan’s Okinawa are being looked into for alleged rapes, according to police on Thursday.
Around 54, 000 military personnel are stationed in Japan, mostly on the tropical southeastern peninsula of Okinawa, south of Taiwan.
A nearby police official told AFP that a US sea in his 20s is” suspicious of raping a Chinese woman at an American military base in March” and is also” suspicious of injuring another person.”

If US military members be subject to stricter sanctions for crimes committed overseas?

The following sea is alleged to have raped a Chinese woman at a US base in January, even though he is also in his 20s, according to the official.
The two circumstances have been referred to prosecutors by authorities.
Washington will engage “fully” with Chinese regulators in the investigations, according to US ambassador George Glass.
We sincerely value the trust and friendship we have developed with our Asian hosts over several decades, and he said in a statement that he would do everything to stop bad behavior from compromising these relationships.
On Friday, US service users joined Chinese officials and locals in Okinawa for a one-time combined nighttime police along a city street full of bars.
Following additional sexual assault cases involving American service members in Okinawa, the police was the first joint operation of this nature since 1973.
A 21-year-old sea was formally accused of rape in June of last year, just weeks after a 25-year-old US soldier was charged with assaulting a 16-year-old girl.
According to Asian media, Okinawa government Denny Tamaki called the most recent incidents “deplorable” and said authorities had pressurize the US defense to stop similar incidents.
At a typical presentation on Thursday, Yoshimasa Hayashi, the country’s top government spokesman, said crimes committed by US forces were “unacceptable.”
According to Chinese media, the alleged rape took place in a restroom, and the injured woman was attempting to stop the abuse on the other woman, citing police sources.
Between Okinawans and US foundations, relationships have long been problematic.
According to police, 80 persons connected to the US government were indicted in Okinawa last year for a number of crimes.
There was a significant backlash following the 1995 group assault of a 12-year-old lady by three US troops in Okinawa, which led to calls for a reversal of the 1960 agreement, which allowed the United States to place troops in Japan.
