Former Republican senator George Santos, 36, was given a seven-year prison sentence on Friday after being expelled from the US Congress for using stolen donor money to fund a luxurious life. After pleading guilty to cable fraud and identity theft, Santos faced at least two years in prison and a maximum sentence of 22 times. He had pleaded guilty to these crimes because of his complex grifting while a senator.
He admitted to engaging in a vicious crime spree that spanned several times. He allegedly stole personal details and income from campaign supporters, allegedly made illicit payments to his campaign, and allegedly to himself personally,” prosecutor John Durham said. He even went so far as to search for older persons who had dementia and cognitive impairment.
Santos received a seven-year, three-month sentence from Central Islip’s Federal District Court, Judge Joanna Seybert. She had ordered Santos to give more than$ 370, 000 in compensation in August 2024, which the prosecution claim has gone paid.
Santos suspended his Cameo bill, which customers had been allowed to use to pay to obtain custom videos, prior to his punishment.
He wrote on X that he was doubtful whether he would be able to fulfill his fresh requests because he was unsure whether he would be able to do so in the future.
He has stated that he has resigned from jail and that he has no intention of requesting a pardon from US President Donald Trump. Federal prosecutors have argued that Santos ‘ social media posts “ring hollow,” in spite of his guilty appeal.

Santos was elected to the US House of Representatives in 2022, and he was charged with identity fraud, money fraud, and stealing from battle sponsors. According to a parliamentary ethics commission research, Santos used donor funds for Botox treatments and the OnlyFans movie site, as well as for luxury European goods and trips to the Hamptons and Las Vegas. He had planned to go on trial for about two hundred of the expenses on September 9 but chose to go on trial otherwise. He pleaded guilty to wire fraud and identity theft.
