The Council on American Islamic Relations urges two universities to “urgently withdraw” the hiring of Biden international policy graduates.
According to the Council on American-Islamic Relations, two Trump foreign policy officials may lose their intellectual meetings.
In a complaint and two words to Harvard University and the University of New Hampshire, the Muslim lobbying group labeled previous U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan and Middle East policy consultant Brett McGurk “war thieves.”
This semester, Sullivan and McGurk were both recruited by Harvard. Additionally, UNH designated Sullivan to serve as a” top fellow.”
According to CAIR, both officers “played important roles in developing, justifying, and executing the Biden administration’s most fatal foreign policy decisions.”
Among these choices are” the botched withdrawal from Afghanistan that culminated in a drone strike on a frightened Armenian family and weapons transfers to support the Jewish president’s genocide in Gaza, which are prohibited by federal law.”
CAIR Deputy Executive Director Edward Mitchell stated in a news release that “government officials who flout federal legislation, lie to the American people, and help dangerous foreign policy catastrophes may not be able to cash out on their devastating time in office by failing up and taking up positions at renowned colleges and universities.”
In the past month, the organization did not respond to emails and phone calls asking for further analysis or information regarding the complaint.
Harvard and UNH did not respond to previous inquiries for opinion on the complaint.
However, a Hebrew Catholic rabbi wrote in contacted comments to The Fix criticizing the petition.
Rabbi Yaakov Menken of the Coalition for Jewish Values stated via email that “CAIR has a long history of help for hatred and violence, and these remarks are no exception.”
He specifically criticized the organization for using the word “genocide,” writing:”
A Jewish author coined the term “genocide,” which requires “intention to damage” a group rather than any other justification. So there are two choices: 1 ) California so severely devalues Jewish lives that it is impossible to imagine the Israelis would want to free hostages or to reduce the risk of the explicitly genocidal Hamas evil business. Or 2 ) California is aware that Israel is attempting to stop a genocide but wants it to happen, and that it is purposefully focusing its own hate on the patients.
He added that the Muslim organization “exists to power antisemitism.”
Menken also made note of Nihad Awad, CAIR’s executive chairman, who praised the terrorist attack against Israel on October 7, 2023.
Awad had previously stated that” the citizens of Gaza only made the decision to lift the siege on October 7 and bust the focus camp’s walls.”
Yes, I was pleased to see people walking free into their own territory, which they were not permitted to enter, and breaking the battle and removing the chains of their own land, he said. And indeed, the people of Gaza have the right to self-defense, and indeed, Israel, an occupying energy, does not have that correct.
He later stated that he had condemned Hamas attacks on Israeli citizens on October 7 and the crime against Israeli civilians in the past.
California has recently persuaded different universities to appoint unpopular students, including Dr. Elon Glassberg, a doctor for the Israeli Defense Forces. The Maryland office thanked the university’s medical school for canceling Glassberg’s scheduled talk about operation in January after it received 6, 000 messages in criticism, as The Fix originally reported.
According to The Fix, medical school administrators canceled the occasion citing ambiguous” health concerns” and the anxiety” some discussion” may take place, citing emails it obtained via a public records request.
