    Following a fight with liver cancer, famous professional golfer Jay Sigel passed away on Saturday at the age of 81.

    Sigel was regarded as the best amateur golfer in America since World War II, according to the United States Golf Association ( USGA ). The famous golfer won three U.S. Mid-Amateur championships and two U.S. Amateur titles. Moreover, Sigel captained the U.S. team twice and participated in nine USA Walker Cup teams.

    Sigel even won the Pennsylvania Open four times, as well as the Northeast Amateur, the Porter Cup, and the Sunnehanna Amateur, according to the USGA.

    Kevin Hammer, the current head of the USGA and president of the final commission, said,” He was a dear friend and someone we will always remember forever. ” Best novice since Bobby Jones, hands over.”

    Hammer continued,” His job as an amateur and professional on the PGA Tour Champions ] was incredibly successful and famous, and he [also] participated in group games with all of the people at Delray Dunes Golf &amp, Country Club in Boynton Beach, Florida, supported the team, helped the students, and just was encouraging at every level,” he continued. His legacy extends far beyond his exceptional using abilities.

    Sigel first intended to play golf professionally after graduating from college, but the famous golf suffered an arm injury in a collision on the college campus in his sophomore year. Sigel’s left side was injured after it went through a pane of glass on a door, according to the USGA, and he had 70 needles put in his elbow while he was in the hospital for nine days. This caused him to reevaluate his plans to play golf professionally and decide to start an insurance company while he competed as an professional.

    In a statement obtained by the USGA, Sigel said,” I always believed there was a purpose items happened.” The best thing to happen to me was the side injuries, according to the author.

    At the age of 50, Sigel later entered professional golf and won eight PGA Champions matches, according to The New York Post.

    Sigel and one of his golf championship trophies were pictured by the USGA in a photo posted on X, previously Online, on Sunday.

    The departure of Jay Sigel, a true story of amateur sport and a valued member of the USGA family, has deeply sadden all of us at the USGA.
