    Pilot killed in ‘experimental’ plane crash at Langley Air Force Base

    An aerobatic aircraft was killed on Thursday when an “experimental” aircraft crashed at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, prompting an inspection.

    Rob Holand was identified as the aerobatic aircraft killed in the fall at Langley Air Force Base, according to a Facebook statement posted on Rob Holand Aerosports ‘ website. The captain was attempting to land at Joint Base Langley-Eustis when the “experimental” MX Aircraft MXS collided, according to The New York Post, simply before noon on Thursday.

    Rob Holland lost his life now, April 24th, 2025, in an accident at Langley AFB, VA, according to Rob Holand Aerosports in a Facebook post on Thursday.” It is with the heaviest of emotions that I am sharing. The FAA, NTSB, and Army are looking into the crash’s reason, which is not known at this time.

    According to the Social speech,” Rob was one of the most admired and inspirational aerobatic pilots in aircraft history. Rob was the most modest man with a singular purpose of being “better than he was yesterday,” despite having an completely impressive list of accomplishments both in the air show industry and in traditional competition aerobatics.

    Holland won 12 straight titles at the United States National Aerobatic Championships and five titles at the Freestyle Aerobatic Championships, according to Fox News. Holland even received the Art Scholl Award for Showmanship from the International Council of Airshows, according to the store.

    Due to Thursday’s fatal fall, the aerobatic aircraft was scheduled to take part on Saturday and Sunday at Joint Base Langely-Eustis during the Hampton Roads airshow.

    In a speech cited by Military Times, Col. Matthew Altman, chief of Joint Base Langley-Eustis, said,” Today we lost a friend of our Air Force home.” ” I want to express our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of this extraordinary aviator, on behalf of our whole JBLE group.”

    According to Fox News, Langley Air Force Base authorities confirmed that the incident on Thursday is” currently under investigation,” adding that” The safety and security of our staff and the local area are our best interests.”

    Additionally, the National Transportation Safety Board confirmed in a speech on X, previously Online, that it was “investigating the fall of an experimental MX Aircraft MXS.”
