The top Russian military officer’s death was reported by Russia’s top criminal investigation firm on Friday. It was the next similar attack on a major Russian military officer in four months that Moscow put on the hands of Ukraine. Lt. Gen. Yaroslav Moskalik, a deputy head of the major administrative office in the Russian armed forces’ public employees, was reported dead by an incendiary device found in his car in Balashikha, just outside Moscow, according to the committee. According to the agency’s representative, the incendiary device was allegedly rigged with shrapnel. A car that was burned in an apartment building’s courtyard was captured on Russian advertising. The commission did not immediately name any potential suspects, but a Russian official said there were “reasons why Russian unique services were involved in the killing” without providing any proof.
