The FBI detained Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge Hannah Dugan on Friday on suspicion of obstructing justice and hiding someone from theirs. FBI Director Kash Patel made the arrest and claimed that the prosecutor had purposefully diverted federal officials from an illegitimate alien who was being detained. Even though Patel deleted his second post, he eventually updated it. After lawyers said they would not request her confinement before trial, Dugan made a brief appearance in Milwaukee federal court on Friday morning before being released. Her court appearance is scheduled for May 15.
What did the judge do?
Immigration and Customs Enforcement ( ICE ) agents entered her courtroom on April 18 to apprehend Eduardo Flores-Ruiz, a Mexican national and undocumented immigrant wanted for deportation, in an incident that allegedly occurred on April 18.
Dugan allegedly confronted the brokers in a public doorway after being informed of their presence and demanded they left while insisting they needed a different arrest warrant. Apparently, Dugan became enraged and called the situation “absurd.” They were given the order to speak with the main prosecutor.
According to investigators, Dugan reportedly aided Flores-Ruiz by escorting him and his attorney through a personal courtroom door to supposedly help him escape ICE agents.
According to Patel, Dugan “intentionally misdirected” federal officials, thereby allowing Flores-Ruiz to appoint temporary guards to evade arrest. Eventually, Flores-Ruiz was apprehended outside the courtroom.
According to the problem,” These activities were also strange for two reasons.” Second, the courtroom deputy had formerly heard Judge Dugan instruct people to leave the jury field because it was only available to the jury. Second, according to the court assistant, just deputies, juries, court workers, and in-custody defendants being escorted by deputies used the back judge door. Never did defense counsel or defendants who weren’t in prison use the jury room.
After a quick foot chase, Flores-Ruiz and his lawyer made it out of the court before an FBI and DEA agent detained the suspect.
Flores Ruiz was detained after Milwaukee police called a Milwaukee house for a alleged fight on March 12. The police report claims he struck a woman as a way to end the encounter, as well as repeatedly punching her.
