After eating a remarkably gracious dining with Donald Trump, comedian Bill Maher publicly criticized the previous president, accusing him of “flirting with totalitarianism” and notice that tyrant jokes don’t stick around for very long.
Trump is the only leader when you feel relieved when he doesn’t fulfill his campaign promises, joked Maher, which caused a lot of people’s laughter.
Maher exclusively objected to Trump’s earlier statements that he could run for office for two terms despite the 22nd Amendment’s prohibition against it, as well as his assertion that he would be a dictator “only on Day One.”
” That’s the issue with dictator jokes,” the jokes. They don’t stick around forever. And going with dictatorship doesn’t end in flirtation, Maher warned.
The artist made a powerful metaphor to marriage cheating. He argued that the MAGA group may be trusted to mingle with dictatorship and that humans cannot be trusted to simply flirt with another interesting people. Not everyone who flirts exploits, though. However, flirting is the first stage of lying.
Maher, who infamously criticized Trump in his time in the White House, has recently received unanticipated support from some conservatives and libertarians for his people denigration of “wokeness.” But he made it clear on Friday that his dinner meeting with Trump doesn’t prevent him from lamenting what he saw as a serious danger.
The host confirmed his end-of-March dining with Trump, which was brokered after rock legend Kid Rock urged the sit-down before on Bill Maher’s Friday present. Maher admitted that “everything I’ve disliked about him was, I swear to God, unavailable,” and that the supper provided proof that he could be imperative. Maher quickly reverted to the old ways and warned his people that Trump’s public image was a whole other thing.
” I’ve gotten some s-t from the lunatic left for only reporting, truthfully, how the senator responded in secret when I was criticizing him his face,” Maher said. ” I was honest about it.” And that gives me a reason to say to conservatives,” Then fine, you enjoyed my integrity and balls, I want to see your pellets,” he joked. It’s your move, what I mean by.
Maher stated that there is still no cease-fire after their temporary truce over supper: he continues to believe that Trump is dangerously close to full authoritarianism, and he is not in any way making fun of it.
