According to a New York Times report, the veiled thief who robbed Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem‘s$ 4,400 Gucci handbag, which included$ 3, 000 in cash, her passport, DHS badge, house keys, and sensitive documents, has been detained.
Noem, 53, was having dinner with her home for Easter at The Capital Burger, a diner a mile from the White House, on April 20. The suspect entered the cafe around 7:52 am, scanned the room, and immediately moved in on Noem’s belongings, according to surveillance footage that law enforcement reviewed. He was wearing black pants, a black suit with a fur-type neck, a football cap, and a surgical mask.
Noem described the attack as “kind of surprising, basically, because it was sitting ideal by my ft,” Noem told blogger Vince Coglianese. He really grabbed my purse with his foot, dropped a cover over it, and took it. She first believed that her children were kicking her under the desk. However, it was done pretty professionally, she continued. It reassures me that this occurs frequently, that persons live in places where this is dangerous, and that this reaffirms my purpose around.

Do you think famous people are more likely to be the target of fraud?
There is no doubt about it that the criminal appears to be a” soft operator” and that John Miller, CNN’s main law enforcement and intelligence analyst, said during a spread that he “does this for a life.” Within three minutes of arriving, Miller explained that the person sat down at a table next to Noem’s, slid the case under his table with his finger, concealed it under a coat, and then left with it.
Specialists believe that the suspect, whose name has not yet been made public, is connected to a larger East Coast group with a focus on high-end thefts. At least two people were involved in the assault, including one who is apparently a migratory, according to sources who spoke to the New York Times. The arrested person is scheduled to appear in court in the early hours of the next week, but the next suspect is still at large.
Noem’s security personnel, including police Secret Service agents assigned to her, were apparently stationed between her board and the entrance of the restaurant, according to NBC 4 Washington. Questions remain, however, regarding how her defense team was involved in the theft.
Miller speculated that Noem’s ostensibly cheap case might have drawn attention. When I see a$ 4, 400 Gucci bag, according to my knowledge, that’s what will make it qualified,” he said. Miller noted that if I think this is a cabinet-level man with Secret Service persons around and watching her, that’s going to make me move ahead. I believe the bag was what attracted him to that desk.
According to Noem’s prominent role, investigators are also trying to determine whether the robbery was an unscrupulous crime or a precise act. The event is a result of what authorities call a growing trend of organized incidents aimed at wealthy sufferers along the East Coast.
