In a move intended to “protect American populations from legal aliens,” US President Donald Trump is naming and blaming places that have been accused of “obstructing” his assault on illegal immigration, the White House announced Monday.
Karoline Leavitt, Trump’s press secretary, announced later on Monday that he would sign an executive order directing the attorney general and the secretary of homeland security to post a list of state and local areas that impede the protection of national immigration laws.
Trump won the White House election in November last year in large part due to his campaign promises to stop what he has frequently called an immigration wave.
His speech about murderers and offenders attacking suburban neighborhoods piqued the interest of wide swathes of voters who were concerned about high amounts of illegal immigration.
Republicans in the White House and Congress have attempted to halt the flow of information from so-called” shelter cities,” which usually forbid public officials from contacting national agents about undocumented immigrants who are at risk of imprisonment.
In Congress in March, the Democratic leaders of Boston, Chicago, Denver, and New York were thrown over the coals over for immigration laws.
With a sizable flow of migrants crossing Mexico, all four places have struggled.
Lake praised the success of Trump’s assault, noting a 95 % decrease in border crossings during the 12 month from March 2024, when Joe Biden was still in business.
” President Trump’s security makes America’s borders then secure.” He has upheld our immigration rules, upheld the rule of law, and protected America’s sovereignty, she said.
