As Canada’s national vote enters a crucial step, Pierre Poilievre, leader of the opposition and Conservative Party president, has hit back at US President Donald Trump’s contact for Canada to become the 51st position.
Poilievre highly rejected the idea, saying that just Canadians may determine their future.
On Sunday, Poilievre took to social media platform X, addressing Trump’s notes, and urged the US President to stay out of Canada’s social affairs. ” President Trump, stay out of our vote. The only people who may decide the future of Canada are Indians at the ballot field,” Poilievre said.
He continued:” Canada will always be happy, sovereign and independent and we will NEVER get the 51st position. “
Poilievre deeper used the opportunity to argue for a change in government. He argued that People now have the chance to vote for a state that may stand firm against outside forces and work to improve the state from within. ” Now Canadians may vote for change so we can improve our land, stand on our own two legs and stand up to America from a position of strength,” Poilievre said.
Trump doubles down on 51st state proposal
Earlier that evening, President Trump after once suggested that Canada should be part of the United States. He wished Canada good fortune ahead of its vote, encouraging them to elect a president who did make Canada the 51st status, promising different economic benefits, including tax cuts, defense expansion, and unlimited trade.
