22 people were killed and three people were hurt when a deadly blaze broke out at a restaurant in northern China on Tuesday, according to Chinese state media.
In Liaoyang City, which is located in Liaoning Province, the fire started shortly after lunchtime. In the Baita District of the city, the cafe was close to the Sanlizhuang settlement housing complex.
A two-story restaurant was on fire, with thick black smoke rising into the horizon, according to a video shared electronically and verified by AFP.
Confirmed videos on TikTok, China’s version of TikTok, showed firefighters using tubes to combat the flames and paramedics taking a prey into an emergency on a bed.
A fire broke out at a restaurant in Baita District, Liaoyang City, Liaoning Province on April 29 at 12:25 pm ( 0425 GMT ), according to state broadcaster CCTV.
Authorities confirmed that 22 people had lost their life in the affair, and crisis team rushed to the scene.
Chinese President Xi Jinping, a state broadcaster, claimed that the flame had left” significant deaths” and that the lessons learned from it were “profoundly severe.”
According to the report, Xi demanded that “every effort be made to treat the injured, effectively tackle the aftermath for the deceased, offer support to their families, quickly identify the cause of the fire, and pursue accountability in accordance with the law.”
