White House press director Karoline Leavitt was caught off guard by a rock singer and Grammy victim during Monday’s briefing regarding freedom of expression and social protection.
Winston Marshall, who recently played harp with the UK folk group Mumford &, Sons, pleaded with US President Donald Trump to grant sanctuary to American citizens who are facing charges under their country’s “hate speech” laws.
Before posing his question, Marshall, who left the group in 2021, expressed concern that his fellow citizens were facing “extensive jail sentences for comments, social media posts, and general free speech issues,” according to the New York Post.
Winston Marshall, a former Mumford & Sons musician, questioned whether Karoline Leavitt, Trump’s press secretary, do” consider granting asylum to British people.”
In such a circumstance, may the Trump presidency consider granting American citizens hospital? asked Marshall, who now hosts the radio” The Winston Marshall Show.”
Leavitt was obviously shocked by the problem.
She responded,” I have never heard that proposal from the president or spoken to him about it. I can definitely talk to our national security staff and see if it’s anything the administration had like.”
