JERUSALEM – A wildfire shut the main highway linking Tel Aviv to Jerusalem on Wednesday, sending at least a dozen people to the hospital and turning skies over Jerusalem gray.
One video showed the flames approaching a Catholic convent, while another movie showed the fireplace stranded near as flames spread throughout the region.
Powerful gusts and warm, dry weather were robbing up the fire as it was being whipped up. The issue was being looked into. According to Jewish leaders, aid was coming from all over the place, including planes from Italy, Croatia, and North Macedonia.
While other rescue groups were responding on ATVs, helicopters were dropping water to contain the flames from below.
According to Israel’s National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir,” we hope to have 150 fire team.”
Before Thursday, Israel observes Memorial Day for fallen men and subjects of episodes, which coincides with the fire. Many of the planned activities were being postponed, including the Jerusalem established service. Mount Herzl, close to the fire corridor, was the target of the event. A dress rehearsal capturing was being broadcast instead.
According to Magen David Adom Ambulance Services, the majority of those admitted for medical care were inhaling smoke, while another ten people were treated in the field. Residents who reside close to the fire area were ordered to leave, according to police.
It was too early to assess the destruction, if any, according to officials at the convent, the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem. According to them, the spiritual communities had been evacuated without incident.
” We pray for the protection of everyone,” their statement read.
Some people abandoned their automobiles and flung on foot or hitched rides with other cars heading the other way as the flames spread across the Tel Aviv-Jerusalem bridge.
In northern Israel’s Mount Carmel in 2010, a large forest fire burned for four weeks, killing 44 people and destroying approximately 12, 000 hectares, much of it woodland.
