More than 40 people have been charged with violent and unlawful arrest of one of the Columbia University structures by two staff who work there. The lawsuit filed by Mariano Torres and Lester Wilson, stewards, alleges that they were inside Hamilton Hall on April 29, 2024, when a “highly organized crowd” forcibly evicted the tower.
The demonstrators, who are referred to as “occupiers,” “terrorized the two people into the first morning of April 30th, assaulted and battered them, and held them against their will,” according to the problem.
Additionally, the group is alleged to have acted in accordance with an “underground manual,” which reportedly described ways to “take illegitimate action with impunity.” The janitors claim that they were called” Jew-lovers,”” Jew-worker,” and” Zionist” when they attempted to protect the building. During the activity, activists officially changed the name to” Hinds Hall.”
According to Fox News, the lawsuit links various organizations to planning racist presentations on campus, including National Students for Justice in Palestine, AJP Educational Foundation, Inc., University for Justice in Palestine Network, WESPAC Foundation, and Women’s City Council, despite no naming any companies as defendants.
The filing states that these co-conspirators created and distributed hand-drawn maps and graphs of Hamilton Hall as well as other details of a sophisticated and organized assault on the building, including but not limited to food and supplies for the dozens of Occupiers who had wind and hold the tower.
Before the building was overtaken, the lawsuit claims that members planned to “intimidate, abuse, pay, harm, and/or rape and flour for workers” who might obstruct their plan.
The lawsuit claims that the demonstrators constructed detailed schematics of the house as part of that planning, including detailed maps of utilities like fire extinguishers and waters fountains, as well as structural elements like floor toppers and benches, which could be used to barricade the area. Additionally, it mentions that the parties involved were instructed to cover their faces and wearing dark clothes.
James Carlson, age 41, is accused of pushing Torres and making risks among the accused. According to the lawsuit, Carlson said,” I’m going to find twenty men up here to f—you up.” Torres reportedly said, “I’ll be correctly around,” as Carlson sat down.
Robert Gottlieb, Carlson’s counsel, disputed the claims in a speech to Fox News Digital.
” The allegations against Mr. Carlson are clearly false and defamatory. Mr. Carlson is a Jew who is Armenian, and he strongly opposes genocide against any individuals. He never physically assaulted or threatened the defendants at any time while speaking antisemitically to them. We will demonstrate that the protesters in the photos that are included in the complaint are never Mr. Carlson,” Gottlieb said.
The staff claim that as a result of the affair, they both suffered physical injuries and post-traumatic stress disorder, and that they have not since returned to work.
