Elon Musk received applause from members of President Donald Trump’s government during the meeting on Wednesday after the president made an allusion to his immediate departure from the Department of Government Effectiveness.

Musk announced on a Tesla shareholder phone last week that he would reduce his job with DOGE to one or two times a year until he departs, but his particular government contract is scheduled to expire next month.

TRUMP’s FIRST 100 DAYS: WHERE DO THINGS STAND IN THE FIRST TEN MONTHS OF THEIR SECOND TERM?

During the more than two-hour Cabinet meeting on Wednesday to honor Trump’s second 100 days in business, Trump particularly thanked Musk.

Trump criticized the tech giant, saying,” You have been treated badly, but the vast majority of people in this country definitely respect and appreciate you. And this place may say that very strongly.” You have really been a great aid, she said. You opened up a lot of possibilities for improvement, and we just want to say thanks a lot.

Trump continued, causing applause from the gathered Cabinet people,” And you know you’re invited to stay as long as you want, but at some place he wants to get back home to his trucks.”

In recent months, Musk reportedly clashed with a number of Cabinet members over his chainsaw-like approach to addressing national waste and fat.

The self-described tech, but, responded to a request for comment on Wednesday.

Musk opened his remarks, drawing smiles from the audience, clapping” They say I wear a lot of clothes.” He was wearing two Trump-branded clothes stacked on top of one another. Perhaps my hat has a helmet, I say.

His public picture has been seriously damaged by Musk’s work for the Trump administration.

Only 35 % of people approve of Musk’s handling of the Department of Government Efficiency, according to a recent poll conducted by the Washington Post-ABC News-Ipsos&nbsp, while 57 % disapprove. The approval rating for Musk is lower than Trump’s ( 34 % versus Trump’s 39 % ).

However, Tesla, Musk’s electronic automobile company, has been the goal of numerous national theft attacks on retailers and cars that the Justice Department has deemed domestic violence.
