Shri Thanedar, a Democrat from India, is the subject of a recent backlash from his previous medical tests business over a 2010 animal violence controversy.
The Michigan Democrat is accused of abandoning over 100 dogs, including terriers and primates, used in laboratory tests after his business shut down, and is urging President Donald Trump to be ousted.
What took place next?
After his business, AniClin Preclinical Services, immediately shut down following the liquidation of its parent company, Azopharma, Thanedar, is accused of abandoning more than 100 dogs, including beagles, and lots of primates at a New Jersey test.
Regional animal welfare organizations notified authorities about the discovery of 118 terriers inside the New Jersey laboratory, according to Huff Post. Following its fiscal decline, the facility was abandoned, and animal rights activists discovered that the beagles remained stranded inside the abandoned lab.
Former employees apparently scaled fences to feed and water the animals until two rescue agencies intervened, according to USA Today.
Two animal welfare organizations joined forces earlier on July 4 to save the terriers from a locked facility before transferring them to homes for implementation.
The gaunt dogs arrived at a conducting place where individuals cleaned and took good care of them, according to a video released by the Times Herald-Record.
A California-based organization called Defense of Animals after rescued 55 long-tailed marsupial monkeys from the same location.
What was said by Shri Thanedar?
These problems are entirely false and have been brought up again, Thanedar said on Thursday in a reaction to the new criticism. All of the creatures were given to content homes when the lab was shut down. I’m delighted to document that no animal was hurt or killed while I was in charge of my long business career.
Thanedar emphasized his work as a senator on animal welfare, saying,” In Congress, I have made pet rights a major concern. As a legislator, I have a proven history of defending animal rights, and I was honored to receive the Humane Society’s highest legislative honor twice in a column. This Congress and for years to come, I’m eager to build on my powerful animal rights record.
He continued, noting that Bank of America’s decision to liquidate the hospital was beyond his control. According to what I understand, Bank of America made plans to ascribe caregivers to the animals and find them homes after I left the company… I am a fan of animals, and I fully comprehend the urgency of this issue,” he continued.
Thanedar added that,” No creature was harmed or subjected to any dangerous circumstances.” There were no electrical tests carried out.
Thanedar, a scientist by profession, is still interested in politics, having received 21 % of votes in a new Democratic primary. He earlier this year filed seven articles of impeachment against Donald Trump. He accused Trump of passing harmful taxes, breaking court orders, and immoral persecution.
In a videos posted on X, the Congressman Thanedar stated that” Donald Trump has consistently demonstrated that he is unfit to serve as chairman and that he is a clear and present threat to our nation’s charter and democracy.
” We must not rush to do any more harm.” Congress may take action. Politics are not the focus here. It’s about keeping our politics safe, and making sure no one, not even a senator, is above the law, Thanedar continued.
