‘If you’re mad that I’m speaking truth to power? Fuck you’
Over the last few days, a high school English teacher in Maine posted on social media that the Secret Service “has the perfect opportunity” and should use it to “take out every single person” who supports President Trump’s “illegal, immoral, unconstitutional acts.”
In a Tuesday pinned Facebook post first highlighted by the Maine Wire, JoAnna St. Germain of Waterville Senior High School wrote if the Secret Service “steps up” it can help the country avoid a civil war.
St. Germain (pictured) notes in her initial post she was not talking about assassinating “a president” because the president “is a person duly elected by the American people.”
Apparently she does not consider Trump to be the president as she notes he “has shamelessly bragged openly about stealing the election” and is “making plans to give himself a third term.”
She adds “If I had the skill set required, I would take them out myself.”
In a subsequent post, St. Germain notes “People are quite angry with me for stating openly that Trump and his cronies need to die […] If you’re mad that I’m speaking truth to power? Fuck you.”
On Wednesday, St. Germain remained defiant, writing she “chose to speak as publicly as I could” and is “not afraid.” She then lists the names of her superintendent and principal.
She also clarified she doesn’t advocate killing Republicans or even MAGA voters in general, just “those in the room with Trump, who are permitting and approving his egregious actions.”

I posted knowing I’d likely lose my job and benefits. I have zero shame about what I’ve said. I’m not backtracking a single thing.
I believe Trump and every sycophant he has surrounded himself with (this is not you – if you’re reading this, this doesn’t apply to you. You are beneath his notice and mine) needs to die.
I believe this with the same forceful belief that Hitler and his sycophants needed to die, before they murdered 6 million innocent Jewish persons.
Waterville Public Schools Superintendent Peter Hallen wrote in a message to the school community (posted by St. Germain herself) that he was “aware” of St. Germain’s posts, is “actively investigating” them, and that he took measures to “ensure everyone’s safety.”
The College Fix reached out to St. Germain via her school email account for comment; she did not respond.
The Bangor Daily News reports local law enforcement and the federal Department of Homeland Security indicated they were “aware” of St. Germain’s posts, but would not comment further.
A year ago under the last administration, the BDN reported a Waterville man was arrested by the FBI for posting “threats about preparing for a civil war, wanting to kill immigrants, President Biden, Barack Obama and others.” He was charged with “threatening interstate communications.”
