
Nearly half of respondents in a new ballot believe the government is keeping secrets about unidentified flying objects after strange flying engagement in New Jersey caught the nation off protect late last month.
44 % of respondents believe the government is fabricating evidence about UFOs, according to a poll conducted by NewsNation/Decision Desk Headquarters this week, while 28 % disagree and 28 % are unsure.
As thousands of reported sightings spread across the East Coast, there were calls from state lawmakers for a federal investigation, as well as panic from some in Congress. In December 2024, a congressional hearing was held on the subject, which turned out to be largely unconclusive, drawing scorn from some lawmakers who questioned why the government didn’t shoot down the aircraft.
The Trump administration held a press conference to address concerns that the unidentified aircraft posed a threat after the FBI, the Department of Homeland Security, and a number of local and state law enforcement reviewed the bizarre activity.
In late January, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters that the [ Federal Aviation Administration ] had authorized the flying of drones over New Jersey in large numbers for research and various other purposes. Many of these drones were also flown by [recreative and private individuals who enjoy flying drones. In the interim, it eventually deteriorated as a result of curiosity. Not the enemy, either.
Leavitt’s statement came after Trump requested that his team conduct an aerial investigation and make the information available to the public.

The survey on UFOs was conducted on April 23 through April 27 among 1,448 registered voters. The error margin is 2.4 percentage points plus or minus.
