Commentary on Canada’s anti-Trumpian vote result missed a crucial place, which is that many Canadians are anti-American haters.
Despite having loved ones and friends in Canada for years, admiring and liking many people, and having ( perhaps as a result of ) having spent decades living and visiting in Canada, I say this remarkable thing.
Perhaps because of this, Canada’s profound and persistent anti-American prejudice may be less well known because it may lessen the burden that President Donald Trump owes, which is true. By excluding candidates with ties to him, who they had just begun to believe would be the most likely candidates to win, he snagged traditional fight from the jaws of victory.  ,
In consequence, Mark Carney, a gentleman committed to combative anti-Americanism, will be in charge of Canada instead of a sage traditional populist, Pierre Poilievre, who would have been a staunch United alliance.  ,
Trump’s blatant insults to Canadians and previous prime minister Justin Trudeau as “governor” helped fuel this crisis, which involved a 20-plus level swing in sentiment.

The fundamental and ongoing issue is, however, why did Trump’s bleacher-style jeering matter? It’s true that any nation may be upset by a international leader who makes fun of their insignificance, but that is not the solution. Why did it play a role? Trump wasn’t a candidate on the ballot. Poivre would not have supported a violation of American sovereignty any more than Carney do.
Unfortunately, the answer is that many Canadians, plenty of them to support the notion of it as a national trait, define themselves by not being British. They make up their own boasts about being less aggressive, less materialistic, less brash, and frequently nicer.
Because it makes up for the fact that Canada is a small, untalented nation in comparison to the United States, this self-respecting myth is clinging to the French heartstrings. An extremely anti-American Left has tenderly nurtured the resentment that this tangible inferiority engenders.
As a young boy in Canada, I was conscious of a pervasive misconception that Canadians were “better” than Americans. I accepted this as truth, as kids do. I was a young man when I learned that Canadians frequently sewed their national symbol onto their backpacks to prevent the thin-skinned scary that their accents and very American culture may make people fault them for Americans.
Did TRUMP HAVE STRONG CONTRACTIONS WITH CHINA, IRAN, AND RUSSIA?
I grew to the point where I could hear” American” being used lightly as an affront when I lived and worked in Toronto at the turn of the century. I was the director of a French national newspaper with the obvious intention of removing the far-right’s throttling shackles from the middle-class and allowing the broadening of regional political discussion to include some conservative ideas. This initiative and the supporting investor were labeled as being “rather American” and” to American.”
On this part of the 49th horizontal, I’m sorry to report that Indians have a bad rap about us. Trump’s troll gave them the right to spread their most vehement dislike. They will now have a good and strong communist government. A lot of compassion.
