On Thursday night, President Donald Trump signed an executive order cutting national funding for NPR and PBS, decrying both sources for their supposedly “biased” policy.

The Corporation for Public Broadcasting is required by law to” cancel existing immediate cash to the maximum extent permitted by law and may rise to offer future financing” to NPR and PBS. Additionally, it states that “heads of all agencies may discover and terminate any direct or indirect financing of NPR and PBS in accordance with appropriate law.”

Trump stated in his order that the CPB if “fund just honest, accurate, impartial, and impartial information policy” and that NPR and PBS do not adhere to this definition.

The CPB “fees these guidelines to the extent that it subventions NPR and PBS.” What viewpoints NPR and PBS promote is irrelevant. What matters is that neither organization presents a good, appropriate, or objective view of recent events to taxable citizens,” the order said.

Trump added that the two stores ‘ money by the CPB is “outdated” because the media landscape is more diverse and varied than it was when it was established in 1967.

” Unlike in 1967, when the CPB was established, the internet environment is brimming with numerous, various, and creative information options. According to the purchase, government funding for the news media in this context is” not only obsolete and unnecessary but it also undermines the appearance of literary independence.”

Paula Kerger, the CEO of PBS, stated earlier this week that around 15 % of its resources comes from the federal government, while NPR reported that less than 1 % of its money comes straight from the federal government.

The White House has made loud points about its disapproval of NPR and PBS’s policy, which it has claimed has” spread extreme, woke advertising disguised as “news.”

In a March hearing before the House Oversight committee, NPR and PBS managers were grilled. Katherine Maher, the site’s CEO, was questioned about her previous statements, including those that included support for restitution, and the decision to not include the Hunter Biden laptop case in 2020.
