A second defense area along the Mexican border was established on Thursday by the US defense department for emigration law enforcement.
The new area, which is located in Texas and connects El Paso’s Fort Bliss Army bottom, is a continuation of the New Mexico zone’s creation next month. Before U.S. Department of Homeland Security employees take control, military staff in these areas are able to apprehend migrants crossing illegally.
The creation of a subsequent National Defense Area, according to US Northern Command chief Gen. Gregory Guillot, increases our administrative reach and effectiveness in preventing unlawful activity along the southwestern border.
Individuals who illegally entered the United States on Monday were accused of breaking into a national defense district in New Mexico, where the Army controls a 170-mile ( 274-kilometer ) stretch that is viewed as an extension of American Army Garrison Fort Huachuca, Arizona.
The fresh Texas zone’s proportions, which were not provided in their press release, were absent on Thursday night.
Those who enter these military zones illegally could face federal charges for trespassing military property and illegal U.S. access. This growth coincides with the Trump administration’s border-related rollout, and prosecutions have decreased to levels not seen since the middle of the 1960s.
These military-friendly areas allow the federal government to work outside the restrictions imposed by a law from 1878 that forbids military participation in civil-legal protection.
During a subsequent visit to New Mexico, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stated that any unlawful entry into that area would result in entering a military base or a federally protected area. You will be detained by Border Patrol and U.S. soldiers.
