Elon Musk, a businessman who is a close supporter of Donald Trump, reflected on the transition he has made to support the president since he previously backed Democrats and former president Barack Obama in the late 2000s.
Musk explained how he observed growing “censorship” in 2022, which resulted in the suspension of numerous “on the Right” Twitter accounts before he rebranded the program as X and created a “bastion of free speech” in honor of the former. Years prior, he had a “pretty great relationship” with Obama while he was president, and he even gave him the “maximum contribution.”

Musk also discussed his connection with Trump, stating that they “almost often agree” on the direction the United States may take in, including ensuring the rule of law and eradicating waste, which is a priority for Musk’s role with the Department of Government Effectiveness. Under his management, Musk claimed that DOGE has found” 20 million useless people” in the social security databases as well as people who “have a birth date in the future” who are insured by employment insurance.
The businessman officially supported Trump’s political bid for 2024 after he was only able to survive a murder attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania on July 13 and joined him live when he returned to Butler on October 5.
