Two people were detained by Brazilian police on suspicion of being involved in a’copacabana beach ‘ music at Rio de Janeiro’s Copacabana Beach on Saturday.
According to authorities, the organized attack was prevented by a joint operation between Rio de Janeiro’s civil officers and the fairness department on Sunday.
Officials believe the plot’s creator was trying to radicalize youth online by posting videos of love speeches against the LGBTQ community and using homemade explosives and Molotov cocktails to carry out attacks online.
The procedure was kept quiet to prevent panic or propaganda, according to police, adding that” the program was treated as a’collective problem’ with the aim of gaining popularity on social media.
An adult was detained in Rio Grande do Sul on illegal weapons charges after the operation, codenamed” Fake Monster,” a play on Lady Gaga’s fan base known as” Little Monsters.” A girl in Rio was even detained on suspicion of possessing child sex.
In Rio de Janeiro, So Paulo, Rio Grande do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul, and Mato Grosso, authorities searched the houses of 15 offenders. During the planned assault, phones and digital products were seized.
The justice ministry claimed that members of the group had fabricated website fan accounts of Lady Gaga to entice youngsters into “networks with harsh and self-destructive information.”
Despite the attempted assault, the music continued without incident. With around 5, 000 soldiers, facial recognition devices, robots, and tracking systems stationed at the location, safety was limited.
