Over 15,000 USDA workers accept Trump-era payouts to leave their jobs

As part of President Donald Trump’s continuing efforts to reduce the federal labor, more than 15 000 people at the US Department of Agriculture have agreed to receive financial opportunities to leave their comments. This accounts for roughly 15 % of the district’s full people, according to a USDA lecture that was shared with legislative workers and reviewed by Reuters.
The administration’s Deferred Resignation Program was launched two sessions later. Almost 3, 900 employees signed keep agreements in February. With more than 11, 300 more arrangements being finalized in April, that number increased to 15, 182. According to the USDA, that figure may also increase as older staff members are given more time to decide and some employees who agreed to resign have not yet signed their deals.
A spokeswoman confirmed the resignations and stated that Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins is working to increase productivity within the organization. Among those who leave are plenty of front-line Farm Service Agency people and hundreds of those who work for the Natural Resources Conservation Service, both of whom play significant roles in assisting American producers.
The action comes in addition to wider budget cuts across various government agencies, with intelligence companies also in the spotlight. Thousands of positions at the NSA and other companies may also be eliminated, according to the Trump administration’s rumored plans to reduce the CIA team by 1,200 over a number of years. The CIA defended the downsizing as a “holistic approach” to better align with national safety interests, noting that some reduces may result from slow hiring and early pensions.
Even though legal issues are still pending, diversity, equity, and inclusion programs across brains bodies have also been discontinued. In addition, the presidency has fired a number of senior officials, including the NSA and Cyber Command mind, further indicating the extent of the shake-up.
Concerns are growing that Trump’s tariff policies and domestic spending cuts may ultimately dampen the economy’s momentum despite the nation’s overall employment situation remaining largely unchanged ( 177, 000 new jobs were added in April ). Economic experts warn that a decline in national employment might lead to slower job growth and worsen repercussions, particularly for those whose jobs depend on government contracts or funding.
The poverty rate is currently only 4.2 %. However, Musk-backed national cuts under the Department of Government Performance may have even deeper effects on American workers and government service.
