President Donald Trump ordered the reconstruction and subsequent restarting of the notorious Alcatraz Island federal prison off the coast of California, which he claimed will house” America’s most brutal and violent Criminals.”
Trump claimed in a Truth Social blog that he had ordered the Department of Justice, FBI, Department of Homeland Security, and the Federal Bureau of Prisons to “reopen a significantly expanded and rebuilt Alcatraz.”
” No longer will we bear these repeat offenders who litter our streets with unrest, mayhem, and garbage. According to Trump, I am directing the Bureau of Prisons to reopen a significantly expanded and rebuilt ALCATRAZ, which will house America’s most brutal and violent criminals, in addition to the Department of Justice, FBI, and Homeland Security.
He added that the Alcatraz prison’s reopening will be a” sign of Law, Order, and JUSTICE” because the nation will no longer be held hostage to criminals, criminals, and judges who are reluctant to carry out their duties and permit us to reduce criminals who entered our country improperly.

The well-known federal prison on Alcatraz Island, which housed notorious criminals like Al Capone and George” Machine-Gun” Kelly, has been closed since 1963. It was renowned for its severe seclusion, which is evident in the area it is situated on that is located more than a mile off the coast of San Francisco. No one has been identified as having safely escaped Alcatraz during its roughly 30 years of operation despite many attempts by prisoners.
The prison’s shutdown was attributed to the high maintenance costs, which included normal operating expenses that were high compared to those of other federal prison, as well as millions of dollars needed for repairs and upkeep. The area, which is a national park, is still a popular tourist destination and is a part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.
This is a developing tale.
