Mark Carney asks Trump not to call Canada the 51st state

Carney claimed at a press conference held on the roof of the Canadian Embassy on Pennsylvania Avenue between the White House and Congress that he had spoken with Trump earlier on Tuesday during what he called “wide-ranging” and “very creative” debate in the Oval Office and a working meal. In the interim, the couple will meet again at the G-7 officials summit in Kananaskis, Canada.

CARNEY POLICLY SAYS TRUMP CANADA IS” NOT FOR SALE” — TRUMP RETORTS” NEVER SAY NEVER.”

Trump himself addressed the issue afterwards on Tuesday at a meeting of the FIFA Task Force in the White House’s East Room.

” As far as calling him governor Carney: No, I haven’t already done that, and perhaps I won’t. Trudeau and I did a lot of fun, but I believe this is a significant improvement, according to Trump. It’s a positive move forward for Canada.

Carney even made a joke during his press conference that he appreciated that “people don’t show what was going through my mind” as Trump attempted to explain to Canadians that there would be benefits from joining the United States, in addition to continuing to insist that the United States did little company with Canada.

The senator has stated his desire for some time regarding that subject, he said. ” I’ve always made a distinction between hope and fact,” I said. I was evident in the Oval Office that this is never going to happen, as I have throughout throughout on behalf of Indians. Canada is no available for purchase. It will never be offered for sale. Some items are not for sale, as I said in the room. And he concurred with that.

Carney expressed optimism that the president appeared “willing to have that dialogue,” saying he had told Trump that Canada and the United States “are stronger when we work along.

When we work together, he said,” We can get a better deal for our staff, we can create more possibilities for our companies, we may build stronger economy across North America, and… now marked the start of a procedure where the United States and Canada are redefining that connection of working collectively.”

Only last week, Carney stated in his victory speech that a U.S.-Canada relationship was “over” and “based on closer integration of our economies and tight security and military cooperation.

The key is to determine how we will cooperate in the future, how to create a relationship between us that is mutually beneficial, based on shared goals, and that produces transformative economic benefits, he said on Tuesday. ” Now, while that’s going on, we will focus on what we can control here in Canada.”

The prime minister made a special mention of strengthening “our strength at home,” which includes security at home, border security, and security in the Arctic, as well as a robust economy.

We are the masters of our own home, and he claimed that we can give ourselves far more than any foreign government can ever give away. ” So this is the time to build, and based on the discussion today, to build at home and to build with our partners abroad, including the United States,” he said.

For Carney, Trump’s improved “posture” toward Canada and his emphasis on “looking for solutions, as opposed to laying down terms,” are” a sign of a… healthy relationship.”

He declared,” We have a lot more work to do.” ” I’m not trying to make any suggestion that we could have one meeting and everything would have changed, but we are now very engaged,” I said.

Trump appeared to say that he would not change his mind about auto tariffs on Canada during their Oval Office meeting, insisting instead that the United States should invest in its domestic industry.

According to Carney,” the auto industry as a whole believes that Canada, Canadian auto workers, Canadian auto companies, Canadian auto parts companies, Canadian steel, and Canadian aluminum all play an important role in enhancing the competitiveness of American auto companies.” So we’ll keep pushing that case and look for a way to make the most of it, not to mention, very much for the good of Canada, in our opinion.

Trump stated earlier at the Oval Office that if Canada acceded to the United States, it would be” a wonderful marriage,” and that they would receive a&nbsp, tax cuts, and free&nbsp, military&nbsp, protection.

According to Carney,” Well, if I may, as you know, there are some places that are never for sale,” she said. It’s not for sale because we met with Canadian owners over the course of the campaign’s last few months.

The president responded,” Never say never.”
