
A 74-year-old veteran from the Navy and the Navy who claims she was assaulted by a retired Long Beach and Long Beach police officer was taken to the hospital for a few days after the alleged assault because of a serious head injury that caused a mental bleed.
Her attorney, David Baria, claimed that Vivian Ramsay, who was hurt in the attack on April 24 had a subdural hematoma of the head, or a type of mental bleed.
I never imagined that any American, especially a retired police officer, had purposely fight me for speaking my mind in a quiet and peaceful manner when I was serving my country in the Navy,” Ramsay said in an interview on Monday.
For a relaxing protest against President Donald Trump’s actions since he began his second term in office, Ramsay had parked her truck at U.S. 90 and Jeff Davis Avenue on April 24 for the asp; abuse. Her vehicle bore warnings about various deeds committed during the Trump presidency.
One sign read,” We shouldn’t have to defend politics from the President.” In another, Ramsay said,” Engaged people lose voting right. The SAVE Act prevents voting destruction.
Ramsay claimed that the abuse suspect, who has since been identified as retired Long Beach Officer Craig DeRouche, 64, who she claims approached her and ripped a rally sign off her vehicle, surprised her.
She said,” He tried to intimidate me farther by grabbing at me.” I held my earth until he struck me in the brain so forcefully that I lost awareness. His steps were absurd and unprovoked. I defended my country in the , Navy, and on April 24; I intend to fight charges that I broke the law in courtroom.”
DeRouche has been detained in connection with the incident on April 24 and a criminal charge of easy abuse against Ramsay. According to Long Beach Police, Chief, Billy Seal, and Chief, Billy Seal, he is facing a second count of criminal assault in the same event for allegedly assaulting a man who witnessed the assault and stopping to assist the former protester.
DeRouche then signed a misdemeanor unlawful affidavits accusing Ramsay of criminal simple abuse for supposedly attacking him, as well as an extra criminal charge for abuse by fear.
Ramsay’s attorney, Baria, said he has informed the government that his client is willing to turn himself in if necessary. The senior, 74, was left with a “terrible” legacy, according to Baria.
In the most recent election, Baria said,” I don’t care who you voted for.” We as Americans ought to be able to acknowledge that this should not be tolerated. We haven’t permit this conduct in our children, and we can’t handle it in adults as a society.
What transpired as a “pushing fit” was described by  , Chief Seal, and later by Ramsay as “ending up on the ground with a knock on her mind.”
Seal claimed that James” Jim” Simpson, a long-term resident judge in the case, has since recused himself from hearing the case. Lewie “Skip” Negrotto IV, the presiding determine, is now in place.
Seal stated that he anticipates the judge to finally decide whether to issue an arrest warrant for Ramsay or hold a probable cause hearing to ascertain whether there is sufficient evidence to support the allegations.
A prosecutor had not yet approved an arrest warrant for Ramsay, according to Seal at noon on Monday.
DeRouche worked as an analyst, detective, and data supervisor for 18 years before becoming a police patrolman in Long Beach. DeRouche was honored for his company when he retired in , September 2020.
