The letter states that the admissions committee had “ensure picture from those who identify as BIPOC and LGBTQ+.”
A University of California Los Angeles medical students ‘ letter, which was leaked, allegedly reveals how discriminatory the institution is still in its admissions office as a result of competition.
A list of” Guiding Principles for Student Representation” on the UCLA School of Medicine Admissions Committee is provided in the letter published in the Washington Free Beacon.
The committee’s chairmen may review all suggestions made to ensure representation from those who identify as BIPOC and LGBTQ+, according to the April 8 letter.
In other words, according to the Free Beacon, UCLA is requiring that” the committee consider contest when selecting candidates for admittance soldiers.”
The person with knowledge of the situation claimed that the letter was sent to all next- and third-year medical learners and had a UCLA watermark on it. The Faculty Executive Committee, which has control over admissions plan, appears to have approved it.
A request for comment was never received by UCLA.
The common college even did not immediately respond to a post demand from The College Fix, asking if it could verify that the letter from UCLA had been received by the institution and, if so, whether the institution had taken any steps to address it.
According to the Free Beacon report from March, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is investigating UCLA for allegedly discriminating against individuals based on their race in its admissions office.
According to a source with knowledge of the investigation, the HHS Office of Civil Rights will look into whether the school’s admissions business, led by doctor Jennifer Lucero, treats black and Hispanic candidates to a lower scientific standard than do white and Asian candidates. The Supreme Court followed suit in 2023 after California law forbids cultural choices in university admissions for nearly three decades.
The investigation is directly related to a report released by the Washington Free Beacon last year that contained admissions officer evidence and revealed how students were abusing simple exams in record numbers.
Reporters claimed that the results of the pupils ‘ performances on those tests, known as table exams, were a reflection of the declining standard of the students who were accepted under Lucero’s view. Four members of her on the admissions committee who served with her said that Lucero has often pushed through incompetent majority candidates to extend the institution. Doctors allege that Lucero, who is the vice chair for equitable excellence, attempted to scuttle white applicants for the residency program in anesthesia.
The College Fix reported that the organization Students Against Racial Discrimination filed a complaint against the University of California structure earlier this year.
The group of students, parents, researchers, and people allege that the enrollment process at a public university gives “discriminatory interests to non-Asian cultural immigrants.”
According to the lawsuit, the UC system allows “applicants with superior educational qualifications to be admitted at the cost of rejected candidates with better educational certificates.”
However, a UC spokesman, Omar Rodriguez, stated to The Fix that the lawsuit is “meritless,” and that the university adheres to state law that forbids the thought of race in admissions.
