    US air traveler alert: REAL ID deadline is Wednesday, May 7

    The manager of public and government affairs for AAA Mid-Atlantic, Jana Tidwell, told Pennsylvanians that federal REAL ID enforcement begins this week, making home air travelers required to have a REAL ID or another form of officially acceptable identification.

    Beginning on Wednesday, May 7, all residents of the United States will be required to board home commercial flights with a REAL ID-compliant pilot’s passport, photo ID cards, or another form of federally recognized identification, such as a valid passport or military ID.

    The Bi-County Airport Board, in consultation with the&nbsp, advised the&nbsp, last week that their constituents been informed that REAL ID must begin with the necessary start of the required. Last year, Mark C. Bailer, director of public safety at the&nbsp, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, advised the&nbsp, to tell them.

    Customers without REAL ID can also sail, but the security clearance procedure will take twice as long, according to Bailer.

    REAL ID: What is it?

    The REAL ID Act, a federal law, establishes lowest security requirements for the release of driver’s licenses and identification cards for particular federal purposes:

    —Training a home business flight.

    —Entering a safe national tower.

    —Accessing defense deployments

    accounts that actually conform to ID:

    After March 2019 standard-issued, non-REAL ID driver’s certificates and ID cards will even look unique. Non-REAL Authentication must be clearly marked with the phrases” NOT FOR REAL ID PURPOSES” in accordance with federal REAL ID requirements.

    A REAL ID is not required to:

    —Drive

    —Vote

    —Apply for or be granted federal benefits to which you are entitled ( Veterans ‘ Affairs, &nbsp, Social Security Administration, etc. ).

    — Visit the article business

    —Access medical facilities

    —Be in court, speak in federal judge, etc.

    How does one go about applying for a REAL ID?

    Verification is the first step in the application of a REAL ID. Visit any PennDOT REAL ID Center or Driver License Center to have your identification verified and scanned.

    The candidates are required to present the following documents:

    A valid passport, U.S. card, or an original or certified version of a birth document filed with the&nbsp, State Office of Vital Records/Statistics&nbsp, with a raised/embossed cover

    —A coated or unlaminated social security card in the current authorized name

    —A copy of a lawful title that has changed, such as a court order or certified marriage certificate.

    —Two proof of solve, such as a current driver’s passport or ID cards, a bank statement or a utility bill that is less than 90 days old.

    obtaining your actual Card

    Within 15 company weeks after visiting a PennDOT Driver License Center, you will get your REAL ID by email.

    You will get your REAL ID at the time of support when you visit a REAL ID Center to have your paperwork verified and imaged.

    If your files have already been vetted and scanned, you can apply for a REAL ID online. Within 15 company time, you may receive your REAL ID solution.

    The REAL ID card is$ 30 (one-time fee ) plus the applicable renewal fee ( current renewal fee is$ 39.50 for a four-year non-commercial driver’s license,$ 42.50 for a photo ID ).

    To prevent candidates from losing the moment they previously spent on the old card ( driver’s license or non-driver ID), the new card’s expiration date may be added to any remaining time on the existing card.
