
The manager of public and government affairs for AAA Mid-Atlantic, Jana Tidwell, told Pennsylvanians that federal REAL ID enforcement begins this week, making home air travelers required to have a REAL ID or another form of officially acceptable identification.
Beginning on Wednesday, May 7, all residents of the United States will be required to board home commercial flights with a REAL ID-compliant pilot’s passport, photo ID cards, or another form of federally recognized identification, such as a valid passport or military ID.

How does one go about applying for a REAL ID?
Verification is the first step in the application of a REAL ID. Visit any PennDOT REAL ID Center or Driver License Center to have your identification verified and scanned.
The candidates are required to present the following documents:
A valid passport, U.S. card, or an original or certified version of a birth document filed with the , State Office of Vital Records/Statistics , with a raised/embossed cover
—A coated or unlaminated social security card in the current authorized name
—A copy of a lawful title that has changed, such as a court order or certified marriage certificate.
—Two proof of solve, such as a current driver’s passport or ID cards, a bank statement or a utility bill that is less than 90 days old.
