Two passengers waiting for a station at a Tokyo subway station were struck by a knife on Wednesday during the night rush, according to Chinese media, and their injuries weren’t thought to be life-threatening. The perpetrator was reportedly seen carrying a kitchen knife on a station’s software on the Namboku subway line, according to Japan’s NHK tv. The suspect was being investigated by Tokyo officers after being detained on suspicion of attempted murder. According to the officers, there hasn’t been an official statement regarding the still-developing event. Operator Tokyo Metro reported that trains on the line were briefly suspended for “inspection” of train cars. In Japan, where there are few murders and some of the toughest gun legislation, violent crime is fairly uncommon. However, there are occasionally stabs and yet shootings, such as the 2022 assassination of former prime minister Shinzo Abe.
