In an effort to” change resources” to America’s “warfighters,” Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth signed a memorandum on Monday that the Pentagon was required to sign.
Hegseth stated in a movie on X, previously Online, that” we’re going to shift resources from swollen offices elements to our warfighters.” Henseth announcing the memo, titled” Less Generals, More GIs.”
Hegseth pointed out that the United States already has 44 four-star and symbol officers out of a power of 2.1 million support users, compared to just 17 four- and five-star generals during World War II, out of a force of 12 million. The secretary of defense reacted with caution when it was said that having a larger number of senior generals and admirals “does not identical more achievement.”
Hegseth addressed the future reduction of four-star commanders and flag officers, noting that this is not intended to punish high-ranking officers. Nothing about this is more unbelievable than that. Working with the Joint Chiefs of Staff, this was a deliberate process that included making wise reductions in the ranks of common and flag officers.
Hegseth stated in the Monday video that the” Less Generals More GIs Policy” will have” two phases” and that it will have two stages. Hegseth has mandated that the Pentagon implement a 20 % reduction in the National Guard’s general and flag officers and a 20 % reduction in four-star and flag officers in the first phase.
Hegseth also disclosed that the Pentagon’s new policy will result in an additional 10 % reduction in general and flag officers and will be carried out” concurrent with a realignment of the Unified Command plan.”
Hegseth said,” It’s going to be done cautiously, but it’s going to be done quickly.” We are in a complicated and changing risk environment. We can’t afford to wait. We must be brutal and trim. And in this instance, it refers to standard official reductions.
