A woman from Arizona is facing charges for allegedly feigning conception with Clayton Echard, the sun of” The Diploma.”
This year, Laura Michelle Owens, 34, was charged with fabricating maternity videos and giving false sonar images in a paternity lawsuit against Echard.
Owens is the son of Bay Area television personality Ronn Owens, who is also a daughter.
According to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, she also reportedly lied under oath repeatedly between May 2023 and June 2024.
In 2023, she claimed to be pregnant with twins and filed a fatherhood lawsuit. Chard denied that the two had slept.
According to the attorney’s office, Owens initially requested child support from Echard before dropping her state, alleging that she had a miscarriage.
On Tuesday, a grand jury indicted Owens on suspicion of one count of fraud, four counts of perjury, and one count of tampering with physical information. He is also charged with one count of forgery.
Echard, who starred in the 26th year of” The Bachelor,” posted a , a picture to social media reacting to the news , of the accusations against Owens in 2022.
He declared,” This horror is over. I’m so happy to be free to consider this no longer.
He continued,” I have not been this happy, and we are so, so proud, and thank you all for your aid.” This is two years worth of weight being lifted off my arms.
