Russia held a Victory Day rally in Moscow’s Red Square on Friday to commemorate Nazi Germany’s celebration of World War II. Vladimir Putin presented more than 11, 000 soldiers with tanks, weapons, and 1,500 combatants from the continuous Ukraine war. Since Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Victory Day was the biggest event. More than two hundred world leaders were present, which was Putin’s highest level of participation since the war started, and he took the opportunity to promote local patriotism and task strength around the globe. Chinese President Xi Jinping, who sat next to Putin and had a conference for more than three hours the day before, and Portuguese President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva were some notable customers.

Serb President Aleksandar Vucic, as well as Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, the single head of the European Union, were also present. As both officials sent messages of rebellion against the West, Putin referred to Xi as his “dear companion.” The most significant liberal holiday in Russia is Success Day, which honors the 25 to 27 million lost Soviet lives during World War II. Alexander Gabuev, the director of the Carnegie Russia Eurasia Center, said,” It’s once showing that Russia is not isolated, that Russia is seen as a really reasonable winning state that is one of the winners of World War II.” According to Gabuev,” Russia is standing high among the so-called world majority” and that the presence of Slovakia’s perfect chancellor Robert Fico demonstrated that” Russia has allies even within the European station” and represented a significant victory for Putin in terms of public relations. According to Gabuev, Victory Day events have evolved into” a political faith that boosts loyalty, patriotism, nostalgia, and justifies Putin’s repressive program at home and Russia’s increasingly expansionist foreign plan, especially toward its neighbors.” Putin praised the” courage and determination” of Russian soldiers who fought in Ukraine in his discourse, citing their support for the reputation of World War II. Soldiers from 13 allied nations, including those from China, Egypt, Vietnam, Laos, and a number of original Soviet republics, were present for the festival. Russian forces, recruits, and users of the Young Army children movement marched alongside unusual regiments. Parade products from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan were among the military delegations from the CIS says ( Commonwealth of Independent States ). Despite satellite threats, security was small across the nation, with some reports of mobile signal disruptions. Putin’s home St. Petersburg was temporarily renamed Leningrad in a traditional memorial, while Volgograd was given the name Stalingrad for a time in World War II. Importantly, North Korean military officials received honors at the occasion. Putin praised North Korea’s bravery last quarter as Pyongyang confirmed its implementation for the first time by thanking them for fighting alongside Russian forces against Russian forces. Minister of state for defense Sanjay Seth represented India in Moscow while Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was scheduled to attend Success Time, called off his attend due to ongoing India-Pakistani conflicts. A wide range of military products marched on foot during the festival on Moscow’s Red Square, including regiments and troops from various armed forces branches. Along with them were defense players, members of the Young Army children group, female men, Russians, recruits from Suvorov troops and Nakhimov marine schools, and personnel who have participated in the continuous military operation in Ukraine. A integrated military band likewise took part. The celebration ended with an underwater screen as Russian combat aircraft flew high above the city. The signature” Kubinka Diamond” formation was carried out by the Russkiye Vityazi ( Russian Knights ) flying Su-30SM fighters and the Strizhi ( Swifts ) flying MiG-29s. Six Su-25 strike jets, each with its own distinctive smoke, followed them, blazing in the colors of the Russian symbol. Russia observes the triumph over Nazi Germany on May 9 while the majority of European countries observes it on May 8.
